BIM, Building Information Modeling, is an architectural 3D modeling for the complete life cycle of creating a building: Design, Construction, and Facility Management. BIM c ontains both geometric and specification information about the building (materials, components, finishes, etc.) which is stored in a single, intelligent 3D model that can be used throughout the life of the building.
These simplified 3D models of key building components add intelligence to building designs. BIM helps to reduce rework of structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, and makes material take-off much faster and more accurate since the exact quantities of materials and components are stored in the model.
